● Freshmen who end their studies early due to transfer, withdrawal, expulsion, etc., in principle, cannot get refund of tuition fees after 14 days from the registration date.
Application information:
1. Qualifications:
● Non-Chinese Nationality or Citizenship in good physical and mental health.
● Age of 18 or above (born before September 1, 2007). For the applicants under 18, please submit the Certificate of Guardianship.
● Academic Requirements:
Chinese Language Programs(Non-Degree)：Diploma of Senior High School
Bachelor Programs: Diploma of Senior High School
Master’s Programs: Bachelor's degree
Doctoral Programs: Master's degree
2. Requirements on Citizenship:
Requirements of the regulations set in the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met：
● Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and become foreign citizens, must acquire foreign citizenship before April 30, 2021, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
● If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen, parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant. Applicants must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission or enrollment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrollment or withdrawal from school will be required.

HSK 4 above 180 or HSK 5 above 180 (depending on majors)
Ø Programs offered in English
Good English language proficiency. For those whose native language is not English, please provide score report of English language test (e.g. TOEFL/IELTS/others).

5. Application Procedure:
Step 1:
Create an account in the Online Application System
(https://icnbu.nbu.edu.cn/).
Step 2:
Complete the application form, and upload the materials required according to Item 6.
Step 3:
Applicants are required to pay the application fee of RMB 500.
Applicants who meet our requirements will receive the pre-admission notice within 2 weeks after submitting application documents successfully.
Applicants are required to pay tuition fees within the prescribed time in accordance with the requirements of the pre-admission notice.
Payment deadline: August 25, 2025
Upon verification of the payment receipt, applicants will receive the JW202 form to apply for X1 visa or DQ form to apply for the X1 visa, and the formal admission letter.
6. Application Materials:

● A photocopy of passport
● 2-inch ID photo
● Highest Degree Certificate and Official Transcripts
● Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate (for Chinese-taught programs)
● Two Recommendation Letters (for master's or doctoral degree programs)
● Certificate of Guardianship (age under 18)
● Performance Certificate: Students who have studied in Chinese Universities within the past two years must provide Performance Certificate issued by the university, including attendance and any records of disciplinary violations etc..
Notice：
Ø The application materials must be in Chinese or English, and notarized copies of translations must be provided for texts in other languages.
Ø Fresh graduates can provide a proof of pre-graduation.
Ø All materials submitted must be true, accurate and complete. NBU reserves the right to withdraw the offer of admission.
